Regents Assignment                                                             
During your studies this year, you will be reading The Diary of Anne Frank,  a play which is based on a journal that a young Jewish teenager named Anne Frank kept while she lived in Amsterdam during World War II.  Anne a victim of the Holocaust, died in a German concentration camp in 1945, just months before the end of the war. Her diary has become famous for her continuing hope and optimism. She never gave up believing that people were good. To better understand the diary and its historical context, you will need to investigate people, events, and places from this time period.

Your Task:  For this project you will be given a letter of the alphabet and a corresponding topic to discuss.  After you have researched your topic you will be asked to give a 3-5 minute powerpoint presentation on the topic. Your goal is to educate the class on your specific topic. The presentation must include visuals and fact based research.

Honors Assignment
                          The Diary of a Young Girl 
During your studies this year, you will be reading The Diary of a Young Girl, which is based on a journal that a young Jewish teenager named Anne Frank kept while she lived in Amsterdam during World War II.  Anne a victim of the Holocaust, died in a German concentration camp in 1945, just months before the end of the war. Her diary has become famous for her continuing hope and optimism. She never gave up believing that people were good. To better understand the diary and its historical context, you will need to investigate people, events, and places from this time period. 
Task: Your task will be research an important aspect of World War II with another classmate. You will become a specialist on this topic and give a presentation to the class in an informative and creative way. You will be researching the following topics:
·         Conditions in Europe leading up to WWII
·         Hitler’s Rise to Power and his political beliefs
·         The Nazi Party
·         Concentration camps and death camps, especially Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz
·         Restriction on Jewish-German life in the 1930’s
·         The S.S and The Gestapo
·         The Resistance Movement during World War II
·         Hitler’s defeat and death
·         D-Day
·         The children of the Holocaust/Kindertranpsort
·         Non Jewish Victims
·         Japanese Internment Camps in America
·         Olympics of 1936
·         United States Role

·         The White Rose movement
·         Medical Experiments 
Requirements:
·         Each presentation should be 5-10 minutes in length
·         Each presentation should include pictures, maps, or any other visual element that would help enhance the project
·         The project must contain a work cited page
·         The presentation must be orderly and organized.
