As we read Laurie Halse Anderson’s novel, SPEAK, we will encounter several issues that our protagonist, Melinda, must deal with. You will choose one of the following issues related to SPEAK to research. Since the issues are very heavy, you may want to choose a subtopic from that issue to focus on. You must write a 3-5 paged paper in which you discuss your chosen topic and then write about how Melinda Sordino is specifically affected by this issue in the novel.
Issues from SPEAK to choose from: (I provided subtopics for the first two issues as an example of focusing on a more pointed aspect rather than the full issue itself).
Depression
