In this assignment we will learn how to answer a research task.  We will then use an internet database or an online encyclopedia to look for articles on our topics. On Friday, October 21 we will continue to research in class. On Monday, October 24, we will come in with two printed articles from an internet database or online Encyclopedia on our topic. The main reason for researching a topic is to find out more about it.  As humans, we only know so much! Today, we can find information easily by using technology.  However, we need to be careful of the websites we use to find our sources. To use outside sources, we typically either:
1.) Look in a library for physical books.
2.) Search the topic online using internet databases.
In “Flowers for Algernon,” the main character Charley is a 37 year old adult with a below average IQ.  The first person point of view allows us as readers to empathize with Charley as he struggles with many different issues related to his learning disability.  In order to further increase our sensitivity to this topic, your assignment is to research any type of disorder  or disability (mental, physical, emotional, or learning ) and learn as much as you can about its causes, its effects, and its approaches/treatments.
TASK: Decide on a disorder. Choose one that you’re not familiar with in order to learn as much as you can through research!  See the list provided for ideas or choose your own. Learn as much as you can about its causes, its effects, and its approaches/treatments.
